Rays | Acquire four youngsters
The Tampa Bay Rays acquired pitching prospects Mike Montgomery and Jake Odorizzi from the Kansas City Royals Sunday, Dec. 9, along with OF Wil Myers and 3B Patrick Leonard, for Ps James Shields and Wade Davis.
Fantasy Tip: Myers has a chance to start the season in Tampa Bay, but the arbitration clock starts ticking as soon as he plays his first game in the majors. He is talented, and worth a look in the middle rounds of AL-only re-draft leagues, especially if he has a strong spring. Many might overvalue Myers in mixed leagues, especially since the possibility exists he might start out in the minors and you might have to wait a while on him similar to Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper last season. He is an obvious must-have in long-term keeper leagues, as is Odorizzi. He could also be a nice stash for AL owners for a mid- to late-season call-up. Montgomery and Leonard will need more seasoning in the minors and aren't worth drafting at this time.
