Pirates | Vowing to improve success at steals
Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle is making it a project in the offseason to improve his team's success at basestealing. In 2009, the Pirates' 74 percent stolen-base success rate was second-best in the National League. That number has tumbled in each of the past three seasons to the point in 2012 where it was at 58 percent, the worst in the majors in a season where the average success rate was 75 percent, the highest since 2007.
