Yankees | Not close to negotiations with Josh Hamilton

While the New York Yankees are conducting a background check on free-agent OF Josh Hamilton (Rangers), they are nowhere close to beginning negotiations with the lefty slugger. The Yankees want to have their 2014 payroll be under the $189 million luxury tax threshold, which would be difficult to achieve if they added Hamilton.
