Padres | Andrew Cashner likely to miss start of 2013

Updating a previous report, San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner (thumb) will likely begin the 2013 regular season on the 15-day disabled list after he suffered a lacerated tendon in his right thumb this past week. Cashner had surgery on the thumb, and general manager Josh Byrnes said Wednesday, Dec. 5, that doctors informed the pitcher he will need a three-month recovery from the injury before he can start a throwing program.
