Nationals | No progress for Adam LaRoche

The Washington Nationals have made no progress on talks to re-sign 1B Adam LaRoche after the first day of the winter meetings Monday, Dec. 3. "I don't think there's any urgency to set a deadline or a specific timeline we need to get it done," general manager Mike Rizzo said. "Needless to say, this decision is going to impact some of the other decisions we make. Sooner rather than later is our preference. We're not going to pressure Adam into anything that he's not comfortable doing." After the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox signed first basemen Monday, there is an increasing chance that LaRoche lands back in Washington. OF Mike Morse, in that case, would likely be traded. The Nats are comfortable using OF Tyler Moore at first base, too, if by some chance neither Morse or LaRoche are back.
