Red Sox | Expect large 2013 payroll
Boston Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington said he expects to have one of the largest payrolls in baseball next season. They currently have only $45 million in guaranteed salary committed for next year, but Cherington plans to invest in OF Jacoby Ellsbury and RP Andrew Bailey and hit the free-agent market hard. Boston is looking for corner outfielders, a first baseman and starting and relief pitching.
