Nationals | Davey Johnson plans to retire after next year
Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson said he plans to retire after the 2013 season, according to a person familiar with the team's negotiations to bring him back for one more season. Both sides are on the brink of finalizing a one-year contract. Johnson will become a special adviser to general manager Mike Rizzo in 2014. Bench coach Randy Knorr will be the leading candidate to take over as manager following Johnson's retirement.
