Padres | Robert Erlin tweaks mechanics
San Diego Padres SP Robert Erlin, who dealt with tendonitis in his left elbow for three months this year, worked on speeding up his mechanics and his delivery over the latter part of the season. Erlin is pitching for the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League, where he is currently 0-1 with a 4.22 ERA over 10 2/3 innings. Erlin's elbow hasn't given him any trouble since earlier this year. "When I had a slow tempo, hitters had a lot more time to get comfortable in the box; they had so much time to sit there and get their timing down," Erlin said. "When I was faster, my fastball is a little more deceptive and it could make them jump more at my offspeed pitches."
