Tigers | Justin Verlander not faring well in World Series
Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander became the first pitcher since Lefty Williams in 1919 to lose his first three World Series starts. Verlander threw 38 two-strike pitches against the San Francisco Giants in Game 1 Wednesday, Oct. 24, and had only four strikeouts in the game. He averaged a strikeout for every five two-strike pitches in the regular season. The Giants didn't swing at 21 of Verlander's offspeed offerings, and only two were called for strikes.
