Dodgers | Matt Kemp surprised by shoulder damage
Los Angeles Dodgers OF Matt Kemp (shoulder) was "surprised and definitely disappointed" when he learned the extent of his left shoulder damage after undergoing surgery earlier this month. However, he expects to be ready for opening day next year. "I wish it just would have been a cleanup and taken six weeks," said Kemp, who begins his rehabilitation Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Arizona. "They actually had to go repair some things. Now, I think it's going to be closer to January before I'm getting to hit and do a lot of other things." Kemp's partially torn labrum was fixed and rotator cuff damage was cleaned up. OF Tony Gwynn Jr. could be used in center field if Kemp isn't ready for the start of the season.
