Yankees | Phil Hughes doesn't think injury is serious
New York Yankees SP Phil Hughes (back) made it seem like his back injury that forced him to leave his start early in Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Detroit Tigers Tuesday, Oct. 16, was not very serious. "It wasn't so bad that I couldn't have pitched," Hughes said. "Like I said, the way things were going, obviously the circumstances of this game and how important it was - Joe and Larry didn't want to take any chances. If I made a couple of mistakes that inning, it would've been a lead that we couldn't overcome." Hughes said this injury is similar to when he had a herniated disc in his back last year, but not as serious. He thinks he'd be able to pitch if the team advanced to the World Series.
