Braves | Brian McCann to have surgery Tuesday

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Braves C Brian McCann (shoulder) will have surgery on his right shoulder Tuesday, Oct. 16, and a timetable on his recovery will be known once they open up his shoulder and assess the damage. The procedure will be concentrated on the posterior part of his shoulder, which should be less invasive than the front part of the shoulder. McCann could start hitting off a tee in mid-February if only his posterior labrum needs repair, which should have him ready by spring training. Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Neal ElAttrache both believe that the surgery will be limited to McCann's posterior labrum.
