Eagles | Many reasons for struggling offense
The Philadelphia Eagles offense ranks 31st in the NFL in points scored this season, averaging just 16 points per contest. Turnovers are a big reason for the struggles as the Eagles have 14 giveaways, 11 from QB Michael Vick. However, the offense has not had good field position so far, either. The average starting field position in the first five games has been their own 24.5-yard line, which is more than four yards worse than last season. Opponents have also done a good job of taking away the deep ball. The Eagles have just two pass plays of 40-plus yards and 18 completions of 20-plus yards in their first five games. Last year, they finished with 10 40-plus-yard pass plays and 64 pass plays of 20 or more yards. Defenses have also blitzed the Eagles more, knowing Vick has been susceptible to pressure.
