Braves | Brian McCann update
Updating a previous report, Atlanta Braves C Brian McCann (shoulder) was diagnosed with a frayed labrum and cyst in his shoulder at midseason, and he'll undergo a dye-contrast MRI within a week before deciding if he will undergo surgery that would keep him out for four or five months. Atlanta is expected to pick up McCann's $12 million option for the 2013 season, and the team is optimistic that he can avoid surgery. McCann's shoulder injury severely hampered his ability to extend himself on his swings, and he was also plagued by a knee injury. However, MRI results on his knee came back clean.
