Phillies | Ryan Howard to miss rest of season
Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said 1B Ryan Howard (toe) will miss the rest of the season after breaking his big toe. He suffered the injury when he dropped the lead pipe that he usually swings in the on-deck circle on his foot.
Fantasy Tip: Howard is worth dropping at this point, unless you are in a keeper league and want to protect him for next season in the hopes that he'll have a bounce-back year. Plagued by an Achilles' injury for most of the first half of the season, he will finish the 2012 campaign with a disappointing .219 average, 14 home runs and 56 RBIs. In 71 games, he struck out 99 times in only 260 at-bats. 1B/OF Darin Ruf is expected to see the bulk of the playing time at first base in Howard's absence.
