Rockies | Wilin Rosario to play winter ball, work on defensive drills
Colorado Rockies C Wilin Rosario is scheduled to play winter ball in his native Dominican Republic and will participate in various drills during the offseason designed by catching coach Jerry Weinstein to improve his defense. One of the drills involves a pitching machine intentionally throwing balls into the dirt (from a distance of less than 60 feet, 6 inches), forcing Rosario to quickly move his body to block pitches. Rosario leads the majors with 20 passed balls this season.
