Nationals | Drew Storen impressive during save

Washington Nationals RP Drew Storen was impressive in recording the save over the Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday, Sept. 20, giving RP Tyler Clippard a much needed day of rest. Storen struck out the side on 13 pitches and hit 97 mph with his sinker. Storen's slider looked better and his slowed-down delivery has made him more deceptive to hitters. "I feel physically better than I ever have before," Storen said. "I feel like my stuff is better than it was last year. When you go in and have those operations, you never really know how it's going to turn out. Fortunately for me, I got taken care of really well." Clippard has a 4.85 ERA as the closer since the All-Star break, and manager Davey Johnson may be forced to decide if he wants to return Storen to the closer's role for the playoffs. Storen has given up no runs, struck out nine, walked one and given up two hits in 7 2/3 innings pitching in the ninth inning or later since his return.
