Cardinals | Chris Carpenter might return sooner rather than later

St. Louis Cardinals SP Chris Carpenter (elbow) threw a four-inning simulated game Monday, Sept. 10. The team had hoped to get Carpenter up to around a 90-pitch count before considering activating him from the 60-day disabled list, but an injury to SP Jake Westbrook (oblique) might expedite a decision.
