Red Sox | John Lackey throws BP
Boston Red Sox SP John Lackey (elbow) threw 15 pitches of live batting practice Saturday, Sept. 8, the first time he had faced hitters since undergoing Tommy John surgery last year. "He looked OK, considering it was his fist time. His breaking ball was really good, which is usually the last thing, and he's been working on that less. It was good. He just didn't have real good control of his two-seamer," manager Bobby Valentine said. Lackey could throw another session Wednesday, Sept. 12, but he dismissed the chance that he could appear in a major league game for an inning or two before the end of the season. There is a chance, though, that he could pitch in the Arizona Fall League.
