Orioles | Nick Markakis suffers broken thumb
Baltimore Orioles OF Nick Markakis (thumb) was hit by a pitch on the left hand Saturday, Sept. 8, and X-rays revealed a broken left thumb. He will be sidelined for the rest of the regular season. He is expected to miss a minimum of six weeks, and more tests will be needed to determine if Markakis requires surgery.
Fantasy Tip: Markakis can be dropped from all non-keeper fantasy rosters, as he definitely will not return for any portion of the regular season. The devastating injury will make OFs Lew Ford and Nate McLouth regular players. Both are worth grabbing in AL-only leagues down the stretch.
