Steelers | Rashard Mendenhall looking good
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall (knee) took regular snaps with the starting offense Monday, Sept. 3, and he looked "incredible," according to DL Brett Keisel. Head coach Mike Tomlin is thinking of possibly starting Mendenhall over RB Isaac Redman in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos. However, Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette doesn't expect Mendenhall to play and thinks Tomlin is trying to get the Broncos "thinking a little bit."
Fantasy Tip: It wouldn't be wise to run with Mendenhall as one of your starting running backs in Week 1, even if he does play, as he'll likely be limited if he does start. He'll probably be eased in early in the season, too, depending on when he actually cracks the active roster on game day.
However, this is great news for those who took a flier on Mendenhall late in their draft. Consider Isaac Redman an RB3 or flex option until we have a clearer picture on when Mendenhall will return to starting duties.
