Yankees | Andy Pettitte update
New York Yankees SP Andy Pettitte (ankle) felt good after throwing three sessions of 20 pitches off flat ground Tuesday, Aug. 28, but he said he needs to make at least two major league starts in order to be ready to pitch in the playoffs. It's possible the team will use simulated games in place of rehab starts, or manager Joe Girardi might elect to have Pettitte start out of the bullpen in his return. "I still know I'm a long ways away, having not gotten on a mound yet," Pettitte said. "Obviously it's frustrating, but I've gotten over that whole point. Now I'm just trying to get to the point to get on a mound and start working to get back."
