Cubs | Not ready to shut Jeff Samardzija down

Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum said the team isn't considering shutting SP Jeff Samardzija down despite his career-high 144 2/3 innings thrown to this point. "He's fine," Sveum said. "We'll make those decisions, but right now - like I said a week ago - all of his tests came back with flying colors. Right now, we're on the thought of making it all the way through." Samardzija has a 2.83 ERA in his last nine starts, and he doesn't appear to be wearing down thanks to a strict training regimen.
