Mets | Johan Santana has back inflammation

New York Mets manager Terry Collins said SP Johan Santana (back) is dealing with inflammation in the area of his L5 vertebrae in his lower back. He will be put on the disabled list, but surgery won't be needed. SP Collin McHugh will be called up to start against the Colorado Rockies Thursday, Aug. 23.
