Mets | Had extension talks with R.A. Dickey

The New York Mets had talks with SP R.A. Dickey on a short-term extension through 2014 before the season. The team elected to wait and observe Dickey during the course of the season. The team has an option on Dickey for 2013. A rival executive said Dickey can land at least a three-year deal on the open market, despite his age.
