Phillies | Placido Polanco won't be starting 3B
Philadelphia Phillies 3B Placido Polanco (back) won't be the everyday third baseman when he returns from the disabled list, according to manager Charlie Manuel. "No," Manuel said. "I probably won't be able to throw him out there every day. We definitely need him back because he is a good defensive player." Polanco expects to play for Single-A Clearwater Wednesday, Aug. 15, after taking batting practice Sunday, Aug. 12, and Monday, Aug. 13. INF Kevin Frandsen is likely to split duties with Polanco in the final six weeks.
