Braves | Matt Diaz in a cast

Atlanta Braves OF Matt Diaz (thumb) was put in a new cast Thursday, Aug. 2, and will be seen by Dr. Gary Lourie Monday, Aug. 6. The team is hoping he can avoid surgery, which would sideline him for the rest of the season. "He agreed with his assessment in the fact that if it doesn't calm down on its own there's no sense in waiting around months to go ahead and get (surgery)," Diaz said. "We should know something in the next week."
