Giants | Pablo Sandoval expected to return on time
The San Francisco Giants are optimistic that 3B Pablo Sandoval (hamstring) will be able to return from the disabled list when eligible Thursday, Aug. 9. He is "real close" to testing his left hamstring by running. "He's coming around," manager Bruce Bochy said. "I'm more and more encouraged with Pablo. I think possibly he'll be ready when his time is up. He was out here taking some swings yesterday during batting practice, and he's doing more and more in the training room. I like the progress he's making."
