Twins | Trevor Plouffe confident he'll avoid DL

Minnesota Twins OF Trevor Plouffe (thumb) is confident that he can avoid a trip to the disabled list. He's optimistic after putting a gel pad on the handle of his bat between his thumb and forefinger. The team will likely make a decision on him Thursday, July 26, but he felt comfortable taking dry swings Wednesday, July 25, and will hit off a tee before he faces live pitching Thursday. The swelling in his thumb has gone down in the last few days.
