Yankees | Alex Rodriguez headed for DL

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (hand) has a fracture in his left hand, and he is headed for the 15-day disabled list. Rodriguez was forced out of the game Tuesday, July 24, against the Seattle Mariners after being hit by a pitch.

Fantasy Tip: The logical on-roster plan to replace A-Rod would probably involve a mix of Eric Chavez and Jayson Nix at the hot corner, with a platoon led by Chavez facing right-handed hurlers. He might be useful in some deep mixed circles as a matchup play; he's shown he still has some pop left. Nix is less desirable and should be left for AL-only setups unless you're pining for middle-infield help in cavernous dual universes.

New York could also summon Eduardo Nunez or another farmhand, and of course, they could attempt to trade for someone like Chase Headley. Stay tuned.
