Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia to be placed on DL

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (thumb) will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a thumb injury. His current thumb injury is in a different area than the thumb injury he had last month which caused him to miss six games.

Fantasy Tip: Pedroia has been playing through a torn adductor muscle in his right thumb, and it has seemingly hindered his work at the dish. Maybe time off will do him some good, but injuries to anywhere on the hand or arm can complicate a player's offensive outlook, even after they rest. We'll update the prognosis when more information is revealed.

Nick Punto will probably get the first crack at keystone at-bats but shouldn't excite anyone outside of those in AL-only leagues, where playing time is at a premium.
