Braves | Jonny Venters to DL

The Atlanta Braves placed RP Jonny Venters (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list with an elbow impingement Thursday, July 5, and recalled RP Luis Avilan from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move. Venters has a 4.45 ERA in 40 outings after posting an ERA of 1.89 in 164 appearances in his first two seasons. Avilan had been called up from Double-A Mississippi the previous day.
