Athletics | Tyson Ross needs to develop secondary pitch
Oakland Athletics manager Bob Melvin said Friday, June 29, that before SP Tyson Ross returns from Triple-A Sacramento, he needs to develop a better array of pitches and last longer. "He needs to get deeper in games," Melvin said. "He needs to find a secondary pitch that's a bit slower. If his fastball velocity is 92, 93 and his slider is 87, 88, that's probably not a big enough gap for a starter. Sometimes his rhythm can be a little bit off and teams, therefore, run on him a little bit too much."
