Diamondbacks | Dan Hudson has torn UCL
Updating a previous report, Arizona Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said SP Dan Hudson (elbow) has a torn ulnar collateral ligament. Hudson will be getting a second opinion on the injury.
Fantasy Tip: It'd be wise to wait on the results of Hudson's second opinion before ditching him in extremely deep mixers and NL-only leagues. Tommy John surgery appears imminent, though.
Josh Collmenter will take Hudson's rotation spot and will make his sixth start of the year against the Milwaukee Brewers this Sunday. Collmenter's surprising 2011 campaign is a distant memory; he's sporting a 4.80 ERA this season. He allows too much contact and too many fly balls to be effective over long stretches, especially at Chase Field. Patrick Corbin, who was recalled Wednesday, could fill in if Collmenter struggles, but Tyler Skaggs is the best speculative pickup in NL-only leagues for the long term.
