Mets | Daniel Murphy not stuck in platoon situation
New York Mets manager Terry Collins said 2B Daniel Murphy isn't necessarily stuck to facing only right-handed pitchers, although he's hitting .143 (9-for-63) in his last 17 games to drop his average to .269. Murphy hasn't homered in 347 at-bats since July 16 of last year. "If Murph hits like we think he's going to hit, he'll drive runs in," Collins said. "If Dan Murphy is hitting .315, he's going to hit homers. Right now, he's gone outside the strike zone a little bit, where he's swinging at some pitches that he has no chance to hit out of the ballpark. But when he's swinging good, he's a good-enough hitter that he's eventually going to hit some homers."
