Red Sox | Daniel Bard says he is not a starter anymore
Boston Red Sox SP Daniel Bard said he is no longer a starting pitcher and is moving back to the bullpen as a reliever. He said he called general manager Ben Cherington about the move and both agreed it was the right decision.
Fantasy Tip: Bard’s move to the bullpen means that his fantasy value this season has dropped significantly since even if he is recalled to the Red Sox, he will be a reliever who likely will not receive any saves with Alfredo Aceves pitching well. Bard would also move behind Andrew Bailey (thumb) for potential saves if Bailey is able to return healthy. There is no evidence at this point that the team is ready to recall him from Triple-A Pawtucket, either. Owners in keeper leagues may consider dropping him if he does not start in future seasons unless he will be a closer candidate down the road.
