Cubs | Carlos Marmol locks down save
Chicago Cubs RP Carlos Marmol got out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning to earn his third save in five chances this year against the Boston Red Sox Friday, June 15. It was his first save since May 2. "I feel great up there now," Marmol said. "I feel confidence. I think I'm going to keep my job. I'm going to continue to work hard." Marmol gave up a hit, walked one and struck out one in the 29-pitch performance.
Fantasy Tip: This isn't a definite endorsement for Marmol to reclaim the closer gig immediately, but it's a good sign that Dale Sveum is considering the move. The fact that he locked it down in a tight spot may earn him more frequent save chances in the near future over lefty James Russell. Grab Marmol ASAP if he's still on your waiver wire.
