Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia could still land on DL

Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine suggested that the team is leaning toward putting 2B Dustin Pedroia (thumb) on the disabled list over the weekend. "Not necessarily," Valentine said when asked if he expected the team would continue to play short-handed this weekend in Toronto. "We are taking it day by day, we have a plan but we aren't going to put the plan in until we feel we need to." INF Pedro Ciriaco is the likely candidate to be added if the team deactivates Pedroia. SS Jose Iglesias (back) missed his sixth straight game with Triple-A Pawtucket Thursday, May 31, with lower back pain.
