Lions | Riley Reiff was best player available approach

Detroit Lions rookie OT Riley Reiff, the team's first-round draft pick, should be a cornerstone on the offensive line for years to come. He will be given every opportunity to succeed in his rookie season and is expected to come in to compete immediately. He may not, however, replace LT Jeff Backus right away. The selection of Reiff wasn't a knock against Backus, but the reality is their veteran tackle is getting older and they need to protect QB Matthew Stafford long term.
