Giants | Tim Lincecum to avoid using slider

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Lincecum did not use his slider in the Cactus League finale Sunday, April 1, and he said he won't use it to start the season to preserve his elbow. "He just wanted to back off," manager Bruce Bochy said. "It's a long season and he has a lot of innings in him. It probably puts a little more stress on his arm. He probably wants to wait to break it out later."
