Boston Red Sox OF Cody Ross is likely to start in left field to open the season with OF Carl Crawford (wrist) unlikely to be ready. OF Darnell McDonald is another candidate. When Crawford comes back, Ross and OF Ryan Sweeney will compete for time in right field.
