Mariners | Michael Saunders starting in CF

Seattle Mariners OF Michael Saunders will start in center field in the team's spring opener against the Oakland Athletics Friday, March 2. 3B Kyle Seager is at third base with 3B Vinnie Catricala as the designated hitter. Saunders is using a bigger bat to warm up with, but he's also using a bigger bat in games. "It's just a bigger head and a longer barrel," Saunders said. "It's feeling very comfortable. I'm seeing the ball well. Not only did I work hard on the physical side and the mechanical side, but I also worked hard on the mental side. Just bringing fire and passion to the game, expecting to do damage every time I come to the plate." He's gone 4-for-7 with a three-run home run, double and three walks in three intrasquad games.
