White Sox | Hector Santiago works on screwball
Chicago White Sox P Hector Santiago played winter ball in Puerto Rico in the offseason in order to attempt to refine his screwball. "I threw the screwball a lot more in games this offseason than I had been throwing it," said Santiago, who pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings of relief over two outings for the White Sox in 2011. "I tried to get my screwball back to both sides of the plate, throwing it against both left- and right-handed hitters, and trying to throw it in all different counts." He will be trying to win one of the last few open spots in the bullpen this spring.
