Yankees | A.J. Burnett trade close

The New York Yankees are close to shipping SP A.J. Burnett to the Pittsburgh Pirates, but there are reports that the Yankees are pressuring Pittsburgh to sweeten a swap. There is optimism that a deal can be finalized as early as this week. "I would still say it's 50-50 that the deal gets done," a team source said. "But I would not use the word 'imminent.'" SP Gerrit Cole is not being offered up by the Pirates. Three teams, including the Pirates, are still interested in Burnett, including a team on the West coast.
