Royals | To conserve Jeff Francis

Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost is starting to think about limiting SP Jeff Francis's workload as the season draws close to an end. "I'm not saying we're going to do anything (with Francis)," Yost said, "but I don't want take him 70 or 80 innings past what he threw last year. That's not fair to him." Francis is on pace for around six more starts, which would put him at 60 more innings than he threw last year.

The team also plans to limit the workload of SP Danny Duffy and have him make one or two more starts. The team is looking at Ps Vin Mazzaro, Sean O'Sullivan and Luis Mendoza in the final month.
