Panthers | Not ready to name starting QB

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said after the preseason game loss Friday, Aug. 19, against the Miami Dolphins that he is not yet ready to name a starting quarterback. QB Cam Newton made his first preseason start, but managed to complete just seven of his 14 passes for 66 yards while playing the entire first half. QB Jimmy Clausen completed nine of his 15 tosses for 69 yards, with most connections coming on check downs.
