Chargers | Trying to replace Darren Sproles
The San Diego Chargers could use a combination of RBs Ryan Mathews, Mike Tolbert and Jacob Hester on third downs as they try to replace departed RB Darren Sproles. None of them have shown Sproles' acumen for running routes or pass protection, so the team is looking for someone to step up on third downs. Tolbert seems to have the best all-around skill set right now to be Sproles' replacement, but Mathews is still an unknown in that department. Mathews has spent a lot of time in training camp improving on his blitz pick up, which he feels is starting to show.
