Rangers | Adrian Beltre not in risk of missing Opening Day

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (calf) is not at risk of missing the team's Opening Day game even though his injury will keep him out longer than originally expected, according to ESPNDallas.com's Jeff Caplan. "We're less focused on the exact target date and making sure he's ready for Opening Day," assistant general manager Thad Levine said. "We've been given no cause for concern that Opening Day is in jeopardy. We're still optimistic it's not going to be a month, but it will be more than 10 to 14 days." Beltre did more work in a swimming pool Thursday, March 3, and will hit in the cages Friday, March 5. He still hopes to get back on the field in a few days. 3B Michael Young, 1B Chris Davis and IF Brian Barden have made starts at third base this spring in Beltre's absence.
