Redskins | Connell Won't Return; Green May

The Washington Post reports, as expected, the Washington Redskins do not intend to re-sign WR Albert Connell during the free agency period. Head coach Marty Schottenheimer stated on Monday the team is likely to welcome CB Darrell Green back for another year. Schottenheimer met with Connell's agent, Peter J. Schaffer, on Friday and discussed the type of deal Connell will be looking for. After meeting with Schaffer, Schottenheimer stated the team will make no attempts to re-sign him and allow him to join QB Brad Johnson in the free agent market. As noted before, the team wants to re-sign WR James Thrash and hasn't made a decision yet on whether or not they want WR Irving Fryar to return.
