Mets | Sandy Alderson was urged to take job
New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said he probably would not have even applied for his position if it weren't for commissioner Bud Selig urging him to do so, according to the New York Daily News' Peter Botte. "Probably not, and the reason was I was already working," Alderson said. "Absent (Selig) asking to go ahead and pursue this, and to some degree urging me to pursue it, I'd still be in Santo Domingo studying Spanish."
